Third into Takotna! Ramy arrived in Takotna at 4:07 this morning. He decided to drop Dillon in Nikolai and take the strongest members of the team on down the trail. Ramy is taking his 24 hour (+2:40) rest here in Takotna. Ramy had hoped to move a little farther down the trail before taking his 24, but instead he decided to take advantage of the good food and warm place to sleep. Ramy said, My dogs were looking really strong on the run to McGrath and Takotna, I had to purposefully keep them from going too fast. I've been nursing a cold and I decided to take my 24 here and continue pushing tomorrow morning.Other news, we reported yesterday that Dee Dee Jonrowe had broken her sled pretty badly. Well, she lucked out when Jeff King offered his extra sled to another musher following behind. According to race officials, once a musher offers equipment it becomes open to anyone in the race. Dee Dee will likely change to her own replacement sled in McGrath. If anyone on the trail has updates and/or pictures to share - please send them to us at gloudon@alaska.net
