Ramy is getting healthy! We arrived in Unalakleet about half an hour after Ramy did at noon. Ramy's dogs were reported to be very energetic even after a 10 hour run from Kaltag.

Unlike many of the other remote checkpoints, there was a crowd of media around Ramy today. The Iditarod entourage is getting excited as the end of the race nears.

Norton Sound

Unalakleet is a village of about 800 people. It is the first checkpoint on the arctic coast of Norton Sound.

Here is an aerial shot of the dog shelter built in Unalakleet for the teams to park out of the wind.

Sandy and Greg

This is Ramy's Aunt Sandy and cousin Greg. They flew out to Unalakleet to cheer on Ramy with his Mom, an uncle and a friend from Anchorage.

Remember the broken sled that he has had since before Ruby? Well, here he is switching it for a replacement that he had sent to Unalakleet before the race.
