Ramy won his first race at the age of four and by the time he was fourteen, Ramy had won each class of the Junior North American Championship races.
He began his competitive distance mushing career in 1992-93. He has competed in such races as the Yukon Quest, Iditarod, Kuskokwim 300, Copper Basin 300, Tour de Minto, Fire Plug, Sheep Creek Classic, Henry Hahn 200, and others.
